Kerry Roeder is the Luce Curatorial Fellow in American Art at the Smithsonian Freer Sackler Gallery, where she is working on the watercolors of James McNeill Whistler. She is an adjunct professor at George Mason University and has written articles appearing in American Art and The Comic Journal. She authored the exhibition catalog for David Wiesner and the Art of Wordless Storytelling (Santa Barbara Museum of Art, 2017). Her book on cartoonist Winsor McCay, Wide Awake in Slumberland: Fantasy, Mass Culture and Modernism, was published in 2014.
