Celebrate the centennial of 16 millimeter film!
The advent of this format created infinite possibilities for personal filmmaking, while still capturing artists’ interest as a creative medium. Introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1923 as a less expensive alternative to 35mm motion picture film, the new gauge and its smaller, lighter cameras especially inspired documentary and home movie makers. Screenings throughout July and August include works filmed in 16mm by renowned artists, including Camille Billops, William Greaves, Amy Halpern, Jonas Mekas, and Naomi Uman.
