    2019 Annual Report

    During the fiscal year, 409 lenders from 20 countries and 34 states loaned 1,419 works of art to 18 exhibitions. The Gallery also worked on another 19 exhibitions scheduled to open in the next five years and administered the tour of eight exhibitions. United States Government Indemnity was secured for four exhibitions on view in fiscal year 2019, resulting in savings of more than $703,310 in insurance premiums.

    The department of loans and the National Lending Service administered the loans of 554 works of art to 211 sites during fiscal year 2019. This number includes the loan of 434 works to temporary exhibitions at 162 institutions and the extended loan of 111 Gallery works to 36 sites. One work from the Gallery’s collection was on short-term loan to the permanent collection of one museum.
