A man wearing a multicolored, diamond-patterned costume stands with his back to us to the left. He looks to our right in profile and holds the hand of a little girl who also stands with her back to us. She wears a pink dress and white stockings, and her right hand rests on the tall handle of a white basket. A portly man wearing a scarlet-red jester’s costume and pointed hat stands opposite this pair, facing us to our right. 毕加索

NARRATOR:

从 1904 年年底到 1906 年年初,巴布洛·毕加索的画中一个反复出现的主题就是杂技演员,也就是巡回演出的马戏团杂耍人或杂技员。现代艺术策展人和负责人哈里·库珀表示,毕加索与主题产生共鸣,以至于把自己放入画中。

HARRY COOPER:

左边是一幅自画像,一位高高的年轻人站在那里。许多前卫的艺术家对这样的团体具有认同感,他们是社会的边缘人,生活在巴黎市郊,却随着巴黎不断开发扩张而被节节逼退,所以风景本身反映了他们居无定所的现况。
