New Orleans Jazz and Blues, Bluegrass, New Americana Folk, and Latin American Musical Styles Are on the Menu during September Concerts at the National Gallery of Art Pavilion Café's Sunday Brunch

Washington, DC—Inspired by the long-running and popular summer program Jazz in the Garden, the National Gallery of Art has added three Sunday noontime concerts in its Sculpture Garden in September. The concerts will feature a mix of American musical talent to accompany brunch in the Pavilion Café. Brunch is served year-round.

On September 13, the Kruger Brothers—Jens Kruger (banjo and vocals), Uwe Kruger (guitar and lead vocals), and Joel Landsberg (bass and vocals)—will perform. The trio personifies the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition.

On September 20, the nationally renowned six-man band DUKES of Dixieland will perform music from selected themes: Mardi Gras, Blues on the Bayou, Symphonic Jazz, Voodoo Revue, Celebrating Satchmo, New Orleans Jazz Legends, and Back to Bourbon Street. The critically acclaimed group is known for weaving strands of pop, gospel, and country into their authentic New Orleans sound.

The Washington Saxophone Quartet, or WSaxQ, will take the stage on September 27 and perform dance music from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Spain, and the United States to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Recorded arrangements by the group—the most widely heard saxophone quartet in the United States—have aired on National Public Radio's broadcasts of All Things Considered.

Pavilion Café Sunday Brunch Menu

The Pavilion Café, located in the Gallery's Sculpture Garden, between 7th and 9th Streets NW along Constitution Avenue, serves Sunday brunch year-round from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The menu includes classic brunch favorites such as scrambled eggs, home fries, buttermilk biscuits, turkey sausage, smoked bacon, steel-cut oatmeal with brown sugar and dried fruit, croissants, fresh fruit, breakfast pizzas, mimosas, and more. Diners have the option to enjoy their meals inside the café, al fresco on the patio, or seated on the marble benches surrounding the fountain.

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

Designed to offer year-round enjoyment to the public in one of the preeminent locations on the National Mall, the 6.1-acre National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden opened on May 23, 1999. The richly landscaped setting provides a distinctive backdrop for 21 monumental works of modern sculpture by internationally renowned artists. Visitors enjoy spacious seating and walking areas amid the native American canopy and flowering trees, shrubs, ground covers, and perennials. The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden was given to the nation by The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation. When visiting the Sculpture Garden, please do not touch the works of art except where indicated otherwise. Tables are not permitted. Do not ride bicycles or use in-line skates and skateboards inside the Sculpture Garden; either walk beside your bicycle or secure it in the bicycle racks available near the entrances on Constitution Avenue and Madison Drive NW. Only service animals are allowed.

Summer Sculpture Garden Hours and Location

The summer hours of the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden are extended to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays to accommodate Friday evening Jazz in the Garden concerts May 22 to August 28. The nearest Metro stations are Archives–Navy Memorial–Penn Quarter on the Green and Yellow Lines, Smithsonian on the Orange and Blue Lines, and Judiciary Square on the Red Line.
