Overview: 211 prints, drawings, watercolors, sketchbooks, and illustrated volumes dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries acquired by the National Gallery of Art during the previous 5 years were shown in this exhibition. The chronological presentation ranged from medieval objects, such as the earliest European engraving and the first image printed in multiple colors, to recent works by Chuck Close, Martin Puryear, Ed Ruscha, and Fred Wilson.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings, National Gallery of Art, was curator.
