Overview: 16 watercolors by Thomas Moran, acquired by Thomas Gilcrease in 1947, were lent by the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art in Oklahoma. The watercolors were the result of an expedition to Yellowstone in 1871 by Thomas Moran, the first major artist to see and paint the region. 3 other watercolors from the institute's collection of more than 1,000 works by Moran were also shown.
Organization: The exhibition was organized by the Thomas Gilcrease Institute. Linda Ayres was the coordinator. This was one of a group of small exhibitions of graphics, Nineteenth-Century America on Paper: Four Exhibitions, opening at the same time.
