French Paintings on Loan from the French Government
December 23, 1945 – February 5, 1946
Ground Floor, Central Gallery
This exhibition is no longer on view at the National Gallery.
Overview: 47 paintings from the French government loan were on view in this final presentation of the works that had been in the Gallery's custody for 4 years during the war. They had become familiar to Gallery visitors during an extended exhibition in main floor galleries while important works from the Gallery's own collection were moved off-site for security.
