Marine Watercolors and Drawings
September 12 – October 10, 1943
Ground Floor, West Central Lobby
This exhibition is no longer on view at the National Gallery.
Overview: 40 sketches and watercolors by officers and enlisted men of the United States Marine Corps were shown with the cooperation of the Division of Public Relations, United States Marine Corps. Unlike the works in other national wartime exhibitions, these were not by civilian artists in uniform but by fighting Marines on Guadalcanal and other islands in the South Pacific. The exhibition traveled to Cincinnati and other cities.
