Biography
George V, Frederick Alexander Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg and King of Hanover, 2nd Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale, K.G., G.C.H., General in the British Army, was born May 27, 1819. He succeeded his father, Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover, etc..., and was deposed on September 20, 1866. George V married Princess Marie, V.A., eldest daughter of Joseph, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg, on February 18, 1843. George V died on June 12, 1878, and Princess Marie died on January 9, 1907, leaving Ernest Augustus William Adolphus George Frederick, de jure King of Hanover and Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg; 3rd Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale, etc... born September 21, 1845, and died November 14, 1923. The couple also had two daughters, Frederica Sophia Marie ... born January 9, 1848, and Marie Ernestine Josephine ... born December 2, 1849. (Taken from Burke's Peerage, see below.)
