Boone, Catherine Sinott

Canadian, c. early 19th century

Biography

The daughter the Reverend Dr. Sinott and Catherine Hallett Sinott, Catherine Sinott married a member of the Boone family, possibly William, of Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada. (Her grandparents, Samuel and Elizabeth Lamb Willson Hallett had gone to New Brunswick as Loyalists.) She inherited from her mother a portrait (NGA 1957.11.9), probably of an ancestor named Samuel Willson, painted in 1720. The painting was in turn inherited by the Boone's daughter, another Catherine.
