Lindenau, Bernhard von

Biography

Bernhard von Lindenau was a collector of 14th century Italian paintings, which he later gave to the Altenburg Museum. He also collected German paintings (NGA's Lucas Cranach), but he kept them in his house. His niece, Mrs. von Watzdorf-Bachoff, inherited the NGA's Cranach Portrait of a Man prior to 1921.
