The Oglebay Institute and museum is in a brick farm house dated to 1845, with several later additions. It holds collections of Wheeling and Midwestern glass, Anglo-American china, Wheeling china from 1839-1912, period rooms from 1740-1850, decorative arts and manuscripts. The Institute also contains a library of local history and decorative art books. Research fields of the complex include local history, glass, ceramics, decorative arts, and pottery.
