Audubon, William Bakewell

Biography

William Bakewell Audubon was a grandson of the artist/naturalist John James Audubon. Born in England to the elder Audubon's son, John Woodhouse Audubon, he was taken to the United States when he was six weeks old. In 1880 he moved to Australia, arriving there on April 8. He married on 12 May 1885 in Yass, a town about 150 miles southwest of Sydney. He lived there on an estate named Lenella, then moved in 1910 to another estate, Glenroy. In 1922 he moved for the final time, to the estate Fairview, in Guilford. His two children were Leonard Benjamin Audubon and Eleanor Caroline Audubon.
