Biography

Amélie-Julie-Charlotte, daughter of French officer Bernard Castelnau, married Sir Richard Wallace [illegitimate son of the 4th marquess of Hertford] on 15 February 1871. She left the famous Hertford-Wallace art collection to the British nation upon her death in 1897. The collection is now kept in Hertford House, Wallace's London residence.
