Biography

Margaret Mellon was born in 1901, the third child of William Larimer Mellon and his wife, Mary Hill Taylor. Margaret's grandfather was James Ross Mellon, one of Andrew W. Mellon's older brothers. Margaret was married first to Alexander Laughlin, Jr. (1889-1926), then to Thomas Hitchcock, Jr. (1900-1944). She had a son, Alexander Mellon Laughlin (born 1925), by Laughlin, and four children, Louise, Margaret, Thomas, and William, by Hitchcock.
