Dresden industrialist Friedrich Bienert was the son of Irwin and Ida Bienert. Ida, who helped establish the first public library in Dresden, was a great collector of modern paintings, including works by Kandinsky, Mondrian, Klee and Chagall. In 1925/6 Mondrian created interior designs for Ida's salon at her apartment in Dresden. Friedrich Bienert was married for six years to the famous dancer Gret Paluka (d. 1993).
