Sternheim, Carl

German, 1878 - 1942

Biography

German playwright and art collector. Married between 1907-1927 to Théa Löwenstein, née Bauer, whose personal wealth allowed them to build Schloss Bellemaison Munich. From 1912 they lived in Belgium. Sternheim's literary works were banned by the Nazis from 1933.
