Biography

Joseph was the son of Georges Spiridon, who had began collecting in Italy purchases from the collection of Cardinal Fesch. Joseph continued his collecting in Paris, concentrating on early Italian painting acquired at auction and displayed in his home on the rue Ballu. The Spiridon collection was dispersed at auction in Berlin in 1929.
