François Depeaux [1853-1920] was a wealthy collector of primarily Impressionist paintings, and sponsor of Sisley. He hosted artists at his estate at Lemesnil-Esnard. In 1909 he made a significant donation to the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen. Several sales of his collection were held in Paris during his lifetime.
