Le Coeur, Charles

Biography

Friend and patron of Renoir, Charles Le Coeur was an architect by profession. Renoir was close to the entire Le Coeur family, including Charles' brother Jules through whom Renoir probably met his model and mistress Lise. In 1856 Charles Le Coeur married Marie Charpentier (1834-1922) with whom he had four children: Marie, Joseph, Marthe and François.
