Galerie Barbazanges

French, est. c. 1909

Biography

Art Dealer Barbazanges rented the first floor at 109 rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré from the fashion designer Paul Poiret [1879-1944] in c. 1909. Poiret retained the right to hold one or two art exhibitions in the space per year. Poiret went bankrupt in the early 1920s. It is probably at about this time that Barbazanges is succeeded by the Galerie Hodebert. Materials concerning the Galerie Barbazanges are held by the Bibliotheque central des musées nationaux, Paris (MS487) and the documentation center of the Musée d'Orsay.
