Industrialist Pierre Lévy and his wife Denise, née Liève, began to collect French art in the early nineteen-forties. Their collection includes Derain, Matisse, Roualt, Dugy, Masson, Dunoyer de Segonzac and Picasso, as well as many other artists. Pierre Lévy has been a member of the Conseil artistique de la Réunion des musées nationaux since 1969. In 1976 the Lévys donated a large part of their collection, some 2000 objects including over three hundred paintings, to the French national museums. The collection is housed in Troyes.
