Margaret Coleman Freeman was depicted in a triple portrait by Thomas Sully with her two sisters, Sarah [1822-1893] and Isabel [1825-1849]. The painting is in the NGA collection (1947.9.3). The girls were the daughters of Thomas Bird Coleman [1794-1836] and his wife Hannah [d. 1830], of Cornwall, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. He owned vast tracts of land in the Cornwall area, where iron and copper ore were mined, and was extremely wealthy.
