Anita Beatrix Arabe was the second wife of American art historian Charles Henry Hart [1847-1918]. Hart, who also acted as a dealer, was born in Philadelphia where he attended the University of Pennsylvania. He was admitted to the Pennsylvannia bar in 1868 and practiced law until 1894, after which he devoted his time entirely to writing on literary and art subjects. From 1882 to 1902 he was the Director of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Hart is known for his authority on historical portraiture, including the works of American artist Gilbert Stuart. Hart also worked with Thomas Benedict Clark [1848-1931] in assembling portraits for the Philipse Manor Hall in Yonkers, NY. Charles Henry Hart married firstly Armine Nixon [d. 1897] and secondly to Anita, who survived him. [Compiled from sources and references recorded on CMS]
