Wife of the comte de la Béraudière and daughter-in-law of the previous comte, Jacques-Victor [1808-1884], one of the great French collectors of the nineteenth century. Jacques-Victor inherited numerous works and added to his collection, housed both at the family château de Bouzillé near Angers aw well as his two large Paris houses, from 1850-1880. Following the comte's death in 1884, a large auction of the collection took place in Paris (18 May 1885), but nonetheless a significant portion of the collection passed on to the comte's son and subsequently son's wife, Marie-Thérèse, a collector in her own right.
