Gallery established by Maurice Joyant [1964-1930] and Michel Manzi [1849-1915] on the rue de la Ville-l'Eveque. Editor, art historian, and picture dealer Maurice Joyant became director of the Galerie Boussod et Valadon in 1890, following the death of Theo van Gogh. There he became acquainted with Michel Manzi [1849-1915], hired in 1881 by Boussod et Valadon as technical director of its printing and engraving studio.Manzi and Joyant became increasingly involved in the publishing operation of the gallery. In 1893 the publishing house went by the name Boussod-Valadon, Manzi et Joyant and in 1897 became Manzi et Joyant. Boussod et Valadon ceased operations in 1919, and its collections were dispersed at auction at Georges Petit. [Compiled from sources and references recorded on CMS]
