This artist is identified only by the initials "J. H." (in monogram) in the inscription of the National Gallery's crudely painted Abraham Clark and His Children (1953.5.40), possibly a mourning picture. No other works by this artist, active in 1822, have been located. [This is an edited version of the artist's biography published in the NGA Systematic Catalogue]
