Remarks
In an undated letter to Elizabeth Davidson, Georgia O’Keeffe wrote that Stieglitz had made many prints the day before and that “The prints have been looked at—some pretty good ones—one of the Dalrymple house with all the trees and different kinds of foliage—even the separate trees—on the other side of the mountain—it looks as if it is just blown on to the paper with a light breath—or a morning when everything is covered with frost—or light glistening ice—the still trembling moment befor [sic] the sun comes and melts it all away—it’s a wonder—It’s nice” (YCAL). In the same letter O’Keeffe also mentions Fred Varnum who died in 1924.
The Estate number for this print is uncertain. A note on the mount reads, “sent as 18E / = similar to 18E / error—DB.” No other print is listed as 18 E.
