Join us for a discussion with filmmaker Jodie Mack about her animation work, in person.
Bringing mundane objects and woven materials to life through animation, The Grand Bizarre is Jodie Mack’s epic celebration of color and design. Mack elevates textiles from their common uses and everyday placements in unpredictable ways, foregrounding formal elements and playfully suggesting there is more to these objects than meets the eye. (Jodie Mack, 2018, 16mm, 61 minutes).
Preceded by Mack’s short film Rad Plaid, a series of chromatic intersections involving audience participation. (2010, 16mm, silent, 6 minutes)
Programmed in conjunction with the exhibition Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction.
Part of the film series Film Knots and Threads.
The end time for this event is estimated. End times may vary with post-screening discussion, audience Q&A, or other factors. All film events finish by 5:00 p.m.
