All ages welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Tickets will be available onsite at the Study Center and are first come first served.

Move your body and be happy! Join us for a thirty-minute guided family yoga session with children’s yoga specialists from Create Calm. Get your energy flowing with playful movements and learn mindfulness and breathing techniques proven to improve focus and calm. Designed for all ages and abilities. No prior experience or equipment needed.

Chat with librarians and explore selections from the National Gallery of Art Library. Inspired by the exhibition Elizabeth Catlett: A Revolutionary Artist, this month’s pop-up showcases materials from our special collections, including Margaret Walker’s book of poetry For My People, with lithographs by Catlett.

Celebrating Elizabeth Catlett

“Celebrating Elizabeth Catlett” is a multi-part symposium exploring the artist’s life and work with artists, experts, and members of her family—held in honor of the exhibition Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist.

This programming is a collaboration with Howard University’s 35th Annual James A. Porter Colloquium, commemorating his role as a lifelong instructor and mentor in Catlett’s development.

This hybrid lecture is offered in person and virtually. All registrants will receive a recording after the event.

Celebrate Elizabeth Catlett with the Howard Gospel Choir

Celebrate with the Howard Gospel Choir in a centerpiece performance honoring Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist, on view through July 6, 2025.  Elizabeth Catlett, a Howard University graduate and DC native, tapped these local beginnings to launch a distinguished career that spanned almost 70 years.

Mexican filmmaker Juan Mora Catlett's documentary portrait, Betty y Pancho, centers the half-century marriage and collaboration of his parents: artists Elizabeth Catlett and Francisco Mora.
