Footnotes

  1. The term planellar derives from planella, or pianella, the type of wedge-shaped footwear widespread in Europe from the 14th to the 17th century. The work of a planellario, or artisan producer of pianelle, is part of the leather-processing sector and thus associated with the craft of tanner.
