Kara Felt is currently the Assistant Curator of Art at the Denver Botanic Gardens and a former Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow in the National Gallery of Art's Department of Photographs, a role she held from 2017 to 2021. She has worked in curatorial departments at institutions including the New York Public Library and Grey Art Gallery and has curated exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as well as at the National Gallery of Art. She has written and lectured widely on photography from the nineteenth century to contemporary work. She received her doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts where she specialized in modern and contemporary art and the history of photography.
