Jean, Comte Budes de Guébriant was the son of Hervé-Marie-Paul Vicomte Budes de Guébriant [b. 1880] and his wife Marie-Eugénier-Edmée-Jean née Mortier de Trévise [b. 1882], sister of the 5th Duc de Trévise. They were married in 1904. Jean was one of three children; his brother Alain was born in 1904 and his sister Anne Marie, later Marquise de Grammant, was born in 1906. The Vicomtes Budes de Guébriant were known by the courtesy title of Comte. Jean married Marguerite Chapelle de Jumilac and had three children: Diane [b. 1945], Wanda [b.1949] and Hervé [b. 1954]. A diplomat, Jean served in Quito, Copenhagen, and Buenos Aires.
