Louis Fidel Debruge-Duménil's collection, composed primarily of objets d'art from the Orient, Persia, and India, spanned the Middle Ages to the seventeenth century and totaled approximately six thousand objects by his death in 1838. Most of the pottery in his collection was sold in 1850. He was survived at that time by a son, Marcel Debruge-Duménil, and a daughter who was married to Jules Labarte.
