The second son of Robert Capel Cure of Blake Hall and his first wife, Sarah Maria Murray, Francis succeeded his uncle, Col. Alfred Capel Cure, in the Badger Hall estate in 1896. He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, and served as a Justice of the Peace. On 4 August 1880, Cure married Alice Newall, daughter of John Lightfoot Newall, Justice of the Peace, of Forest Hall, Essex. She died in 1937 and bequeathed the estate to her nephew, George Nigel Capel Cure (who generally went by the name Nigel).
