German art dealer who opened his gallery in Mannheim, Das Kunsthaus, in 1920. After the Nazis took power in 1933 it became increasily difficult for Tannenbaum to work or to show modern art, and he eventually left Germany for Amsterdam in 1937. There he also opened a gallery. In 1947 he emigrated with his family to the United States, settling in Rye, New York. Tannenbaum died in 1958 while visiting Germany and his widow closed the gallery permanently at that time.
