Diplomat Henry Prather Fletcher was born in 1873 in Green Castle, Pa., the son of Lewis Henry Clay and Martha Ellen Rowe. He was admitted to the bar in 1894 and, after military service, served in American diplomatic missions throughout the world. In 1917 he married Beatrice Bend [d. 1941]. Fletcher represented the United States at the 5th Pan American Conference in Chile in 1923, and the 6th Pan American Conference in Havana in 1928, in addition to numerous other official delegations. Fletcher died on 10 July 1959 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
