Sturges, Henry C.

Biography

Henry C. Sturges was the son of Jonathan Sturges [1802-1874], a New York businessman, and his wife, Mary Cady Sturges. The elder Sturges was best known for his business ventures in the firm of Reed & Lee, coffee merchants (later Reed, Hemstead Sturges), and his involvment in the development of the Illinois Central Railroad. Henry Cady Sturges was married to Sarah Adams MacWhorter.
