Cynthia was the daughter of Nathaniel Beverly Tucker [1784-1851]. Nathaniel was the son of St. George Tucker and Frances Bland Randolph [1752-1788], who had been widowed by John Randolph [1742-1775]. Nathaniel's half brother John Randolph of Roanoke [1773-1822] was a US congressman whose portrait, painted by Gilbert Stuart, is now in the NGA (1940.1.9).
