Music scholars Adrian Loving and John Murph moderate a discussion and listening session with musicians Joe Claussell, Navasha Daya, and Ron Trent to explore their new electronic compositions inspired by the artists and works featured in Called to Create. The musicians will share the cultural and musical resonance of the exhibition, play samples of their music, and discuss the creative process. Followed by a Q&A with the audience.

About the Presenters

Joe Claussell is a DJ, producer, remixer, label manager and former record store owner from New York. Claussell has been playing music internationally for the past decade, while simultaneously working as a producer and remixer.

Navasha Daya is a gifted and seasoned recording and performing artist, songwriter/ singer, composer, producer, arranger, choreographer, curator and committed cultural arts activist who is internationally known as an accomplished performer.

Adrian Loving is a noted visual arts educator, cultural historian, and DJ. Over the course of his 20-year career, Loving has curated art exhibitions and public programming at various museums and cultural institutions. His active participation at music festivals, art fairs and conferences have further developed his unique perspective on contemporary pop-culture and issues of historical importance.

John Murph is an award-winning journalist whose work has been published by TIDAL Music, NPR Music, The Washington Post, Washington Lawyer Magazine, AARP The Magazine, Down Beat, and JazzTimes. He's also a DJ, who has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Quebec Jazz Festival, Winter Jazz Fest NYC, Washington, D.C.'s Rock The Parks, DC Jazz Fest, and Eaton Hotel D.C.

Ron Trent is a DJ and producer rooted in the dance music world for the past three decades. Trent is largely regarded for producing and playing an eclectic range of music and is considered one of the founding artists of the Chicago art scene.
