About the 8 Ohms Band

Plug in to the 8 Ohms Band in an evening charged with a powerhouse lineup of players from around the DC Metro area! These performers deliver generous doses of horn-heavy funk, blurring the lines between hard groove, jazz, soul, and reggae with a nod to DC's own go-go music.  Since 2007, the 8 Ohms Band has perfected its trademark style, receiving the 2022 WAMMIE for “Best Funk Artist” and 2023 RAMMIE for “Best Co-bill Show of the Year.” They have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the genre, including Chuck Brown, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, and Big Sam’s Funky Nation.
