About the Seldom Scene
Celebrate our season finale with an evening of home-grown music and inventive takes on country, rock, and pop classics.
Charlie Waller of the renowned bluegrass group Country Gentlemen allegedly named the band in 1971, doubtful that it would succeed. Waller questioned, "What are you going to call yourselves, the seldom seen?" But succeed it did, performing as the resident band at the nearby Birchmere Music Hall for several years, touring nationally, and releasing over 20 recordings. The band’s present line-up includes dobro player Fred Travers, bassist Ronnie Simpkins, guitarist Dudley Connell, mandolinist Lou Reid, and banjo player Ron Stewart.
