Aquatint: Two Minute Tour

Join exhibition curator Rena Hoisington on a two-minute tour of Aquatint: From Its Origins to Goya. This innovative printmaking technique swept across Europe in the 18th century, sparking the imaginations of artists and viewers alike. Follow the story of aquatint from its beginnings as a way to recreate ink and wash drawings to the multiple prints made of Francisco Goya’s extraordinary images of war. Most of these selected works from the National Gallery’s collection of early aquatints have never been on public view.
