Search the Accademia site for a combination of words, a name, or a number or letter sequence in the transcriptions of documents.
Personal Name Search
Use the drop-down menu to browse and select a Personal Name. The Personal Name list includes participants in the Accademia di San Luca, witnesses of transactions, and others. Preferred spellings of names appear in boldface type, followed by vernacular and Latin variants. You will find summaries, transcriptions, digitized images of the original documents in which the named person is mentioned. In certain cases searches lead to expanded artists’ pages, which include not only links to documents but also bibliographies and images of related works.
Place Name Search
Use the drop-down menu to browse and select a Place Name. The Place Name list includes locations where the Accademia di San Luca or its members interacted or transacted business with other individuals and institutions in and outside Rome. Preferred spellings of names appear in boldface type, followed by vernacular and Latin variants. In certain cases searches for locations in Rome lead to expanded place pages including historical entries, bibliographies, early modern images related to the places themselves, and four coeval maps of the city.
Guided Search
In the Guided Search, use the drop-down menus to browse and select a Place Name, Key Term, Type of Document, Notary, or Year. The search parameters you select from the drop-down menus will connect you to all related documents. You will find summaries, transcriptions, and digitized images of the original documents.
